Congratulations…you’ve made it to Spring 2018! It’s time to update your spring jewelry wardrobe with a few new and carefully repurposed pieces. You don’t have to spend a fortune to refresh your jewelry collection. Here are four ideas I recommend to help you greet the season with renewed sparkle.
Clip One On
Bejeweled hair accessories are bigger and bolder than ever. Take a page from Dolce & Gabbana’s book Cheap Van Cleef Clover Bracelet and wear a vintage brooch or clip-on earring in your hair, or on a headband. Also consider attaching a pair of clip-ons to the flap of an envelope clutch bag for an instant designer look.
The Haute Hippie Look.
Layer Your Lockets
Whether they’re gold, silver or both, layer your lockets, charms and found ects on cords and chains. Embrace the haute-hippie style that is so on-trend this season…and don’t be afraid to mix things up. Combine vintage with new pieces for the “time-traveler” look (more on that in a future post).
Leather & Luxe
Be creative with new ways to wear what you already own. I recently discovered I had two gold-plated monogram pins in my jewelry box. I took one of them to be dipped in silver and fastened it to a braided leather cord that wraps around my wrist several times. Terrific.
Five-Finger Exercise
Like the multiple ring Knockoff Van Cleef Butterfly Bracelet effect? There are two ways to update your spring jewelry wardrobe with rings: Buy a between-the-finger ring (or several), or wear all your rings stacked up on each hand. Credit this trend to the current rage for all things ‘70s. It’s here to stay through Winter 2018, I’m told, but let’s not get ahead of ourselves….
2018 CFDA Awards Committee Nominates Jewelry Designers
The Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) unveiled its 2018 Fashion Award nominees and honorees last week, and among them are superstars and rising stars from the world of jewelry design.
Irene Neuwirth is nominated for the CFDA’s Accessory Designer of the Year; Eva Zuckerman of Eva Fehren Jewelry is up for the Swarovski Award for Accessory Design; and Betsey Johnson has been given the Geoffrey Beene Lifetime Achievement Award for more than Replica Van Cleef & Arpels Rings 40 years of fashion and jewelry design leadership.

CFDA President Diane von Furstenberg introduced the nominees and honorees at a March 17 soirée at the Weather Room atop New York’s Rockefeller Center, where Johnson, a four-time CFDA Fashion Award winner, wore one of her dresses from 1965! Jewelry designers Jennifer Fisher, Pamela Love, and Mimi So also attended the party.

Swarovski co-sponsors the annual CFDA Awards, recognizing emerging talent with its self-named prizes. The Swarovski Award recipients in each category receive generous financial support as well as exposure to the company’s extensive crystal resources. In a related development, Fake Van Cleef Alhambra Ring Swarovski announced last week that it will venture into the Fine Jewelry business.
Nominations come from the CFDA Fashion Awards Guild, an exclusive group of 450 fashion designer/members, fashion retailers, press, and stylists.
The 2018 CFDA Awards ceremony is scheduled for June 1 at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall in New York.
